Fremont
Fremont was rescued by a neighbor after they saw the previous owner shoot his companion horse for not being ridable any longer. Fremont was to be next but the neighbor took Fremont to a local rescue and saved his life. Sad thing after years of service as a search and rescue horse, who was ridden hard and had permanently torn up his rear leg. We took Fremont and his then buddy Freckles back in 2017 and had loved him ever since. Fremont was the most sweet and empathetic horse we’d ever met. After bonding and losing several buddies, including Opal, he was generally happy to live out his years grazing in the field with his herd. He had taken on the role of “old Uncle” for little River and enjoyed mutual grooming with him daily. Fremont was our own little “Eeyore” of the bunch, but enjoyed being the wise old man of the herd until he passed away around 30 years old. We miss him dearly.
