Elvis (aka The King)
Elvis is a Tennessee Walker who is 31 years old. He started out his life in Tennessee and was sored to perform as most Walkers are. Elvis was sired from a famous Walker named The Pusher and therefore was named PUSH. When he was about 8 years old, a couple from Oregon brought him here after he was deemed “not good enough to reproduce”. Sadly, the couple left him primarily alone in his pen while his herd mates went out on the trails as he was not a good trail horse.
This lasted 17 years until the couple decided to euthanize him rather than move him with them to a new location. The vet reached out to us to see if we could take him, as he was very healthy and just needed a chance. Since then, we changed his name to Elvis and he is learning to be nicely social in a herd. Although he loves grazing and joining the others, he also enjoys his quiet, personal space at night – in his own “apartment”. He has learned over the years that pinning his ears and glaring often scare people, but it is only a show. As soon as you let him know it doesn’t work, he goes about his business calmly. He is a real beautiful gelding that silently shows his happiness with living a good life – finally!
