ELVIS IS IN THE HOUSE!!
Elvis is a Tennessee Walker that recently turned 30 years old. He started out his life in Tennessee and was sored to perform as most Walkers are (see https://www.humanesociety.org/resources/what-horse-soring). Elvis was sired from a famous Grand Champion Walker named “The Pusher” and therefore was named “PUSH”. We found his foal date and details on his sire’s page online, along with 1609 other siblings! Eventually he made it out to Oregon after he deemed “not good enough to reproduce” at the age of 8.
Sadly, the couple left him primarily alone in his pen while his herd mates went out on the trail. This lasted 17 years until the couple decided to euthanize him rather than move him with them to a new location. The vet reached out to us to see if we could take him, as he is very healthy and just needed a chance. We immediately changed his name to Elvis (our neighbors kids helped choose his name since he was from TN like Elvis). He really had no social skills but slowly, he has learned to be a happy member of the herd here and has even taken on the role of “uncle” Elvis to young River! He is a real beautiful gelding that silently shows his happiness with living a good life – finally! Come meet this black beauty!
