Sally (aka Sideways Sally)

Sally was another lovely Chestnut mare from Southern Oregon and was also placed as a free horse on Craigslist due to her contracting EMP, the neurologic disease that Mac also has. We drove down to haul her to the rescue and were appalled at the deep mud she and her other 3 herd mates had been living in. She was in horse shoes which made the transport more slippery, so we placed deep bedding in the trailer and drove super slow for the almost 4 hour transport. She was about 15 years old. After arriving safely at the rescue, she was settling in and showing us how sweet and loving she can be. She had become a hospice horse, meaning we did all we could to keep her as comfortable as possible until her passing. She loved to run in the field with her buddies, although she tended to run cattywampus, and almost fully sideways. This was why she was called Sideways Sally! We loved and adored her and hope and are heartbroken she left us.
