When I Grow Up…

When Dianne was a school child, her teacher asked the students to write (in cursive) a short essay on “what they wanted to be when they grew up”. I’m sure the teacher was expecting many “astronauts” and “ballerinas”. Dianne wrote about her dream…to rescue animals in need. At Age 10 she knew what her heart wanted. Sadly, it took quite a few years to translate that dream in her heart and make it a reality – and it’s not 100% the same as what she had imagined as a child (ie., lions living peacefully with giraffes in her backyard) - but Happy Trails is the realization of her dream. Thankfully she has a life-long “partner-in-crime” who believes her dream as well!

NOTE: Apparently this was a counted word essay as per the many uses of “etc.” And sad that Dianne couldn’t imagine herself being a vet at that point in her life…

So, here it is, typos and all!

“When I grow up I hope to have my own animal farm. It will be a big place where people who can’t take care of there animals or have to go away and can’t bring them with., sort-of like a kenal.

If I do get a animal farm, I hope I marry a vet. There will be lots and lots of room for the animals to run around or hop or skip, etc. I will feed them twice a day.

I will have a room where I could keep all my small animals, such as hamsters, mice, rats, etc.

I will have a very small house. It will have a small kitchen and a small living room, and a bedroom. I will keep baby animals in the house if they are sick.

I will also have a animal hospital if animals are hurt or sick, etc.”
